Launching Auto-Sync™
From The Command Line
Using the command line to launch automatic
syncs
The Auto-Sync™ option allows the user to save
a directory pair into a file to be recalled at a later time
and launched from a Windows Start/Run command line, a command
at the DOS prompt or a Windows shortcut. One or more saved
Auto-Sync files can be specified to execute. PowerSync® will
open each of these files and perform a Sync on the directory
pair specified by the file.
How to setup an Auto-Sync™
To setup a Auto-Sync, perform the following
steps.
-
Select a pair of directories to sync in
PowerSync’s Select Mode.
-
Choose New from the Tool Bar.
-
Specify the options desired in the Auto-Sync
setup screen.
-
Save As xxx.snc in the AutoSync sub-directory
under the PowerSync directory.
Launching Auto-Syncs from the Windows command
line
To launch Auto-Syncs from the Windows command
line, save a Auto-Sync file for each of the directory pairs
that you want to sync.
Choose Start/Run and add the full path for each
of your files on the command line separated by commas.
The command line will appear as defined in the
following example.
Example: c:\pwrsync\pwrsync.exe\ myfiles1.snc,myfiles2.snc,myfiles3.snc
Note: The PowerSync program must be closed
for the Auto-Sync(s) to launch!
Launching Auto-Syncs from the DOS Prompt
You can launch Auto-Syncs from the DOS prompt.
An example is given below:
At the DOS prompt enter: win c:\pwrsync\autosync\xxx.snc
where xxx.snc is the file name of your saved Auto-Sync file.
This procedure is valid only if you have restarted
the system in the MSDOS mode. Note: It will not work in a
DOS box.
Create a desktop shortcut to a Auto-Sync
This procedure describes a method to create
a Desktop Shortcut to a specific Auto-Sync (xxx.snc) File.
It assumes PowerSync is installed in the C:\PWRSYNC Directory
and the Auto-Sync file is named Test.snc.
Note: The PowerSync program must be closed
for the Auto-Sync(s) to launch!
-
Right Click on the Desktop.
-
Select New and Select Shortcut.
-
In the Command line field enter c:\pwrsync\pwrsync.exe\
Test.snc. Click Next.
-
In the Select a name field enter Auto-Sync
and click Finish.
-
Test your Desktop Shortcut by double clicking
it.
Multiple Auto-Syncs can be launched by separating
their file names by commas as shown for the Windows Start/Run
example.
